College Admission Reps Host Two Local Events

Representatives from Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford will host “Exploring College Options: A Student/Parent Information Session,” Sunday, May 19, 7:30-9:00 pm, Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas, 6333 N. Scottsdale Rd., Scotts., 85250. At the same location on Tuesday, May 21, 7:30-9:30 pm, hear reps from four of the country's finest liberal arts and sciences colleges: Bowdoin (Maine), Carleton (Minn.), Pomona (Calif.), and Swarthmore (Penn.). Rising sophomores, juniors, seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend.

Donate or Sell Your Textbooks

If your books are in demand and in good condition, MBS Direct will pay you for them. Buyback dates for Upper School: May 24, 12:00-2:00 pm (seniors only); June 3 & 4, 12:00-2:00 pm, in the Upper School computer lab. Please check with teachers if you are unsure whether some books may be used by your younger children in coming years. Any family interested in donating used textbooks to the financial aid program, please bring them to Kristie Berg's office in the Administration building.

Spend Summer Saturdays with Robotics

The Robotics team invites all rising 9th-12th-grade PCDS students who want to participate in the robotics program to join the team. We use summer to train students on CAD, robotics design, software development, welding, shop safety, and more. Starting June 1, we meet every Saturday through the summer (but come whenever you can), 10 am to 5 pm, in the Hormel Arts Center. We’re finalizing our training plans and will send follow-up emails to those who want to have a lot of fun, enhance their skills, and become technical wizards! Extended Library Hours

The US library is now open for after-school study until 5 pm, Monday-Thursday. The library will be proctored by a US faculty member and should be a quiet, cool, well-lit place for students to work before heading home or off to practice.

The PCDS Upper School wants to provide families with as much help as possible in our joint effort to keep new, inexperienced student drivers safe. Getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time is a big event in the lives of sixteen-year-olds and often a big worry for parents.
