Phoenix Country Day School’s Extended Day Program serves both Lower School and Middle School students. (Click here for Middle School extended day information.) The program begins on the first full day of school and ends the last full day of school for each division. The program is staffed by PCDS personnel and provides students an option for after-school care and supervision in a familiar setting.
The Lower School Extended Day Program is open to pre-kindergarten through fourth grade students and is located in Lower School Building E, Room 11. The children will be engaged in age-appropriate activities, which may include outdoor time, crafts, and homework time. Younger children have time to rest or play in small groups as the older participants take advantage of study time. An after-school snack is provided.
Hours and Fees
The Extended Day Program convenes at school dismissal time each day and is available until 6:00 p.m. It is open on days that the Lower School and Middle Schools have half days. It is closed on all school days immediately preceding holidays and school vacations and when school is not in session. The 2012-2013 dates when school is in session but Extended Day will be closed are: Friday, October 5, Tuesday, November 20, Wednesday, December 19, Thursday, February 14, Friday, March 15, and Tuesday, June 4.
A student will go to the Extended Day program upon dismissal, if he or she is scheduled. If a child is not picked-up after regular dismissal by 3:20 p.m. Monday-Thursday or 2:20 p.m. Friday, he or she will be taken to the Extended Day program until arrangements can be made. A fee of $25.00 per day will be the billing rate for this service regardless of time spent.
Late Pick-up: A late fee of $25.00 will be charged for any child not picked up before 6:00 p.m. PCDS reserves the right to cancel participation of students whose parents fail to pick up their children before 6:00 p.m. more than two (2) times in a one-month period (30 days).
Drop-In Policy: Lower School families who need the program on a drop-in basis must contact the Lower School Office by noon of the requested day to make the needed arrangements. The cost for one day is $25.00.
Pre-registration provides a substantial discount from the drop-in rate of $25.00 per day. Pre-registered days may be used at any time during the current school year.
