Catalina Trip Day 4

More kids challenged themselves on the ropes course this morning, while others snorkeled out through the giant kelp around Indian Rock. Two of the groups saw an octopus or two. This afternoon we'll be going on an eco hike where we'll learn about the local flora and fauna. We'll also be learning about composting and exploring tidal pools. Tonight is our annual Pimuvit campfire where the kids present skits, eat s'mores, and reflect on their week.

Catalina Trip Day 3

This morning featured the high ropes course, where the students faced their fears and pushed their limits. This afternoon's activity is a combination kayak and snorkel to Emerald Bay. More night snorkeling tonight and clear skies promise beautiful views of the stars. During free time the kids have enjoyed competing in the gaga ball pit.

Catalina Trip Day 2

We started the day with kayaking and snorkeling under clear blue skys and warm weather. Kids reported seeing octopus, spiny lobster, garabaldi, opal eye, wrasse, gorgonian coral, and more. This afternoon we will be doing team building, tide pooling, and discovering art in nature, while tonight we'll be experiencing a night snorkel and exploring the night sky. I almost forgot that on the ferry ride to the island yesterday we were escorted by a pod of dolphins! Enjoy the pictures.

Catalina Trip Day 1

We've safely arrived at Catalina Island! The weather is beautiful - sunny and warm. The kids just got moved into their cabins and are about to eat lunch. They'll be snorkeling or kayaking this afternoon, and going on a hike this evening. More to come tomorrow.
