GOLF TEAM FINISHES 5TH AT STATE

Congratulations to Coach Hendrickson and the PCDS Eagle Golf team as they finished 5th at state this past weekend. The Eagles were in second place after day 1 but couldnt get to the top as they ran into a few better teams that day. Sophomore Morgan Gonzales medaled for PCDS as she finished 7th overall out of 96 golfers. Andrew Garber finished 14th. Henry Roden finished 25th and Carson Krause finsihed 58th. Great match Great season!!!

Congratulations to Coach Schweik and Coach Jessen on a magical ride through the state playoffs. The #20 seeded Eagles won 3 games in the state tournament only to come up short against #1 seed Northwest Christian 6-5 in the state semi-finals. The girls fought hard as they had the tying run on 3rd base with 2 outs but a groundout ended any hopes of advancing to the title game. Great game Great season!!!

Congratulations to Coach Keever and the girls tennis team as they finished runner-up state champions. The girls tennis team made a great run through the playoffs upsetting 3 teams. The #10 Eagles knocked off #7 Thatcher, #2 Buckeye, and #3 Safford. This set up a finals rematch of last years state championship with Miami, which PCDS won, only this time, Miami had a little bit more to capture the trophy as they defeated our own Eagles 5-4 Girls tennis team memebers: Charlotte Aaron, Rae Aaron, Alice Zhao, Jacie Wright, JessicaWinssinger, Raagini Kothur, and Alexa Nino. Congratulations girls on a great season!!!

For the first time since 1987, the PCDS Girls Softball team is headed to the division 4 state playoff semi-finals as they defeated rival and #5 seed Arizona Lutheran 8-2. The #20 seeded PCDS Eagles were backed by timely hitting of seniors Katherine Currault, Selena Jacquez, and 2 doubles by freshman phenom Sophie Arregoces. Sophomore lefty Sarah Petrides set the tone in the circle as she controlled and limited the Coyotes through 4 innings with Arregoces finishing the game off with 3 innings of 8 strikeout relief. The Eagles play #1 seeed Northwest Christian this Friday evening 5:30 Rose Mofford Stadium. Come out and cheer the girls softball team as they look to adavance to the State Championship saturday. Good luck girls + GO EAGLES!!!

Congratulations to the #20 seeded girls softball team as they defeated #13 seeded Scottsdale Christian 3-2 in the first round of the state playoffs. The game was close throughout out and ended on a put out at the plate to advance the Eagles to the 2nd round. PCDS will take on #4 seeded St. Johns Friday 4:00 p.m. at Rose Mofford Stadium. GO EAGLES!!!

Congratulations to our #10 seeded Girls Tennis team on their second staright upset win. Last week, the girls defeated #7 Thatcher to advance and take on #2 Buckeye. The girls defeated Buckeye in yesterday's match 5-3 and now will advance to the semi-finals Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Paseo racquet Club to take on the #3 seed. Good luck girls tennis!

Congratulations to Coach Bratton and the 2013 Boys Varsity Baseball team. Although the team lost a tough playoff game yesterday to Pima 6-3, the team had an outstanding season. They won 8 out of their last 9 games to earn a #16 seed and advance to the state tournament. Thank you to the seniors for all of their hard work and deciation.

Congratulations to Charlotte and Rae Aaron on their State Championship Girls Tennis Runner-up finish. The girls lost a tough championship match in a tiebreaker 3rd set. 7-5 6-4 7-6 (7-4) The girls had a great tournament as they upset the #2 seed in the semi-finals. Wish them luck as they now take on the #2 seed today in girls Team tennis.

From Director of Athletics Shane Lewis: Congratulations to the girls' and boys' varsity basketball teams on a great winter season. The girls won their opening playoff game Friday night, 58-40, vs. Scottsdale Prep. Saturday they lost a tough battle against Fort Thomas, 69-61, to end their season. The boys' team lost a heartbreaker Friday night vs. Duncan, 49-48 in overtime. Great seasons for both teams!!! Congratulations to all, and a special thank you to the cheer team on an outstanding season as well.

Lady Soccer Eagles Finish Strong Season

Congratulations to the girls' varsity soccer team and Coach Andy McKean on a great season. Their playoff hopes ended on Tuesday when they fell to the #7 seed, the Glendale Cactus Cobras, 7-2 in the first-round match of the Division III state tournament. The Lady Eagles, seeded #10 in the tournament, finished the season at 14-3-1. Looking back on the season, Coach McKean said, "The girls' season ended on Tuesday with a loss to a very skilled Cactus High School. It does not take away from a fantastic season that included a record 14 wins. We had phenomenal performances from the entire team, and special thanks to our four seniors--Kendall Woodard, Claire Rose, Walker Tuton, and Katharine Currault--for their dedication to the program."

GIRLS SOCCER NOTCHES 100TH PROGRAM WIN!!!

On Saturday, January 19th, the PCDS women's varsity soccer team reached a milestone by winning its 100th game in program history. The girls defeated rival Tempe Prep 4-0. The Lady Eagles are having an outstanding season, as three recent wins have brought their division record to 11-1. Ten consecutive victories have moved them to #8 overall in the Division III soccer rankings. Coach Andy McKean has the highest praise for his players when he talks about what has made this team so successful. "A fantastic defensive effort by goalkeeper Saira Purewal, as well as defenders Amelia Montooth, Kat Currault, Karen Catano, and Jesse Edwards allowed only 5 goals during this 10 game win streak," he says. He adds that Margaret Loncki's 15 goals and Remi Edwards nine goals have paced the Eagles scoring. Congratulations to the girls varsity soccer team and to Coach McKean and his staff.

BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM DEFENDS TITLE BY WINNING 2012 PCDS EAGLES HOLIDAY CLASSIC TOURNAMENT

The PCDS Boys Basketball Team defended its 2011 title by winning the 2012 Holiday Classic Championship defeating Camp Verde 71-56. The Eagles went 4-1 in the tournament. Senior Alex Sylvester paved the way to victory with 107 points for a 21.4 points per game average and hauled down 13 rebounds in both the semi-finals and final game. Sophomore 3 point specialist Nihaal Reddy scored 87 points for a 5 game average of 18.6 and Freshman sensation Andrew Ekmark quarterbacked the offense with 50 assists and 87 points for an average of 17.4 points per game. The Eagles have played 3 games in the New Year going 1-2 with a big win over Division 3 Bourgade Catholic 64-62. The Eagles stand at a record of 10-9 as they try to make a push for the state playoffs. Good luck boys!!!
