You and Others Curriculum

Currently in YO:

The 5th grade information can be accessed at sites.google.com/pcds.org/5th-grade-yo. The 6th grade information can be accessed at sites.google.com/pcds.org/yo-6th. The 7th-grade students are learning about healthy boundaries, how to set them, and strategies to use when our boundaries are crossed.  The 8th graders are discussion depression and suicide. We are doing mindfulness activities and gratitude logs each day in YO class in all grade levels.

We want Phoenix Country Day School to be a safe place for children to grow academically and emotionally.  You and Others (YO) classes give students the opportunity to explore individual values and interpersonal skills through class discussions, video presentations, and group activities.

Several core themes run throughout the four-year program: increased self-esteem, respect for differences, positive leadership, decision-making, and coping skills, and an appreciation for group dynamics and interaction.  Because these areas overlap, class presentations often address more than one of these themes. While students are encouraged to participate in activities, the class honors an individual’s right to privacy.  Throughout, our goal is to foster respect for self and others within the school, local, and larger communities.
